Mitsubishi FTO Engines - The differences between the various FTO Engines.

V6 24-valve MIVEC Engine (FTO GPX)

The sophisticated, powerful (200BHP@7500rpm) 2.0-litre V6 MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and lift Electronic Control) DOHC engine switches automatically between two sets of cam lobes: one for deft low rev response with muscular yet controlled torque, and the other for execptional top-end power. The result is a silky smooth ride at steady speeds, with a resonant, throaty bass roar that thrills the spirit when you decide to put the throttle down.

V6 24-valve Engine (FTO GR)

The powerful 2.0-litre V6 DOHC engine is almost as powerful as it's sophisticated MIVEC counterpart, with flexible torque and outstanding peak power of 180BHP at 7000rpm (a mere 500rpm lower than the MIVEC unit). The result is a more refined engine note at high are RPM with minimal loss in performance. Like the MIVEC engine the 2.0-litre V6 DOHC engine is most at home at high revs.

1.8 16-valve Engine (FTO GS)

This 1.8-litre 16 valve SOCH engine gives lively performance and outstanding fuel economy, with 16 valves giving a a peak power of 125BHP at 6000rpm. Torque is available from low RPM making this engine as flexible if not as powerful as the V6 engines.
